Course Description
Not just Healthcare workers, but funeral service workers are constantly exposed to blood and other body fluids. Funeral service employees can be exposed to blood through needle-stick and other sharps injuries, mucous membrane, and skin exposures and bodily fluids while working with human remains. Workers and employers are urged to take advantage of available engineering controls and work practices to prevent exposure to blood and other body fluids.
Communicable Disease and Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) Education Florida Rule 69K-32 meets the Florida Division Board of Funeral, Cemetery and Consumer Services requirements. This course offers an overview of HIV/AIDS communicable diseases which includes the OSHA Blood borne Pathogens Standard, needle, scalpel and other sharp objects sticks protocol and blood borne cleaning methods. The statute applies to the following targeted professionals:
- Funeral Director
- Embalmer
- Direct Disposer
- Combination Funeral Director and Embalmer
- Funeral Home Staff
