Course Description
Life threatening issues associated with cognitive impairment under the term of ‘elopement’ is defined as unsupervised wandering while in the present of caregiver supervision. Confused residents and or clients will leave a safe environment without permission, placing these individuals at a higher risk for injuries or even death because of their state of mind. This is a growing concern for families because loved ones diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and other related disorders, will wander / elope out of a safe-supervised zone into harm way without consent. The purpose of this educational material is to equip all assisted living employees and other health care providers about the risk involved while caring for elopers, the problems and causes of wandering, and approaches to care.Florida Statues 58A-50191
Upon completion of this informative study the participants will be granted 1 hour of continuous education.
Population: ALF Administrators, Adult Family Care Home, Nurses and employee.
